common questions for new families

  • We offer both. Skyline’s year-round team runs August through July, and we also offer a summer-only program with monthly sessions in June and July.

  • Practices are held at two locations: Skyline High School and Steiner Aquatic Center. Swimmers commit to one location for the season or year.

  • Swimmers are placed based on ability rather than age and may join throughout the year if space is available. Because swim team is not swim lessons, swimmers should be comfortable in the water and able to follow coach instruction.

  • Coaches evaluate swimmers based on ability and experience to determine the best group placement. Adjustments may be made as swimmers progress.

  • Practice frequency and times vary by group and season. Current schedules are posted on our website.

  • Attendance expectations vary by group, with entry-level swimmers attending a minimum of two days per week. More advanced groups are expected to attend more frequently.

  • Swimmers should have a swimsuit, goggles, fins, and a towel. Additional equipment may be introduced as swimmers advance.

  • Meets are encouraged but not required, especially for newer swimmers. They’re a great way to build confidence, gain experience, and track progress.

  • Our program runs in monthly sessions and billing occurs on the 1st of each month. We do not prorate or offer make-ups for missed practices. To cancel your swimmer’s spot, written notice must be provided by the 15th of the prior month to avoid additional charges.

  • Yes, parents may watch from the mezzanine. To remain in compliance with SafeSport guidelines, parents are not permitted on deck during practice.
